Overview

Sturup Raceway runs its own driving menu on the 2,087 m FIA approved circuit at Svedala, south east of Malmö. The headline is Prova på Racing, a taster morning where you drive two Porsches back to back: four laps in a Cayman S to set a time, then four laps in a 911 Carrera to beat it, with a racing driver briefing you first.

The rest of the private menu is Racing Driver for a Day, a full day in a Porsche with lunch, theory, race gear and a timed shoot out, and Trackday Gatbilar, three hour sessions for your own road car. Companies book the go kart team competition, Safety on the Road and conferences that look onto the track; the karts are not sold to walk in visitors.

The circuit calls itself Sweden's southernmost race track and has hosted STCC and DTC touring car rounds. It suits someone who wants Porsche seat time without owning one, and Skåne drivers who want a weeknight on track in their own car.

What to Expect

  • The cars are the circuit's own: a Porsche Cayman S with a 3.4 litre mid engine flat six, 291 hp and a 275 km/h top speed, and a Porsche 911 Carrera (997) with the 3.6 litre rear engine, 325 hp and 285 km/h.
  • You drive. A briefing and tips from a professional racing driver come first, then the car is yours on the circuit.
  • Prova på Racing is 8 laps in total: 4 in the Cayman S chasing a personal best lap, then straight into the 911 Carrera to try and beat it.
  • Racing Driver for a Day is the full programme: a lunch buffet on arrival, a theory session on car control and driving technique, a change into race gear supplied on site, track time with instructor feedback after each run, then a timed shoot out where the fastest driver wins and the top three are awarded. The corporate version of the same day publishes the lap plan as 10 laps behind a pace car learning lines, braking points and apexes, 4 free laps, a debrief, 4 more laps at higher speed and a 3 lap timed shoot out.
  • The instructors hold racing licences and are trained in first aid.
  • Trackday Gatbilar puts your own road car on the circuit for a 3 hour session; when the field is big the circuit splits it into classes by experience. Hot dogs, soft drinks, coffee and sweets are sold on site.
  • The circuit is the full 2,087 m FIA approved layout, the same one the STCC and DTC touring cars raced on.
  • For corporate groups there are Dino Leisure rental karts, 390 cc and 15 hp with a top speed over 100 km/h, run as a 75 minute team competition, Safety on the Road days that put your own car and a skid car on the circuit, and conference rooms with the track outside the window, the biggest holding 150 people.
