Classic Racing School
Overview
Classic Racing School offers historic single-seater driving experiences and coaching on the Circuit de Charade near Clermont-Ferrand. Sessions recreate 1960s monoposto driving using Crosslé-derived cars upgraded for modern safety.
Programs range from half-day taster drives to full-day and multi-day coaching, plus private group events. The school publishes a session calendar and operates from the circuit's Rond‑Point de Manson base.
What to Expect
You’ll switch between short classroom briefings and multiple on-track runs in lightweight historic single-seaters, with instructors coaching driving lines, heel-and-toe shifting and racecraft.
On the day:
- Safety briefing and fitting of helmet/harness.
- Several timed or coached runs around Circuit de Charade in single-seater cars.
- One-on-one feedback from an instructor after runs.
- Optional photography or passenger "baptême" laps, depending on the session.
Best way to experience it: arrive early to complete paperwork and briefing, wear flat-soled shoes and non-flammable clothing, and book a full-day or multi-day coaching if you want structured skill progression rather than a single taster.
Things to Note
- Prices start at published rates (see cost) and sessions run to a calendared schedule.
- Bring ID and a driving licence; international visitors should carry a valid licence translation if needed.
- Comfortable, non-bulky clothing and flat shoes are recommended; helmets are provided.
- The circuit is at altitude and weather can change quickly — expect variable conditions.
