Overview

Aso Nature Land’s Adventure Buggy offers guided buggy/ATV rides across the northern outer rim grasslands of Mount Aso. Sessions include safety briefing, helmet and goggle rental, and about 60 minutes of driving on beginner and optional adventure courses.

The site runs scheduled daily sessions (10:00, 11:30, 13:30, 15:00) and operates year-round with seasonal hours; light rain usually does not cancel, but strong winds or lightning will. Reception is at ASO Buggy Land on Prefectural Route 45, not the main office address.

What to Expect

A hands-on, instructor-led off-road drive on open grassland tracks with scenic views of Aso caldera and surrounding pastures.

Look out for:

  • Wide, grassy tracks with panoramic caldera and pasture views.
  • Two course levels: beginner (suitable for first-timers) and adventure (requires prior buggy experience).
  • Session structure: safety briefing, helmet/goggle fitting, practice, then ~60 minutes riding.
  • Weather notes: runs in light rain; cancelled for lightning or high winds.

Best way to experience it:

Book a scheduled session in advance (online or by phone for single-person bookings), arrive at the ASO Buggy Land reception on the Milk Road 15–20 minutes early, wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and layered outerwear, and choose the beginner course if it's your first time.

Things to Note

  • Reception and runs take place at ASO Buggy Land on Prefectural Route 45 (Milk Road), not the main office.
  • Sessions start at 10:00, 11:30, 13:30 and 15:00; arrive 15–20 minutes early.
  • Single-person bookings require phone contact; cancellations occur for lightning/high winds.
  • Helmets and goggles provided; bring a spare layer and closed-toe shoes.
