Siku, Audi and Classic Car Museum Stadtlohn
Overview
The Siku, Audi and Classic Car Museum is a private collection spread over two floors of a building in the west industrial estate of Stadtlohn, in the western Münsterland close to the Dutch border. Karin and Thomas Höing run it next to their model car business.
There are three collections under one roof. Over 27,500 Siku models from 1951 to today line more than 1,700 metres of glass shelving, next to over 11,500 Audi models and a separate display of over 1,000 Wiking models. The real cars are the third collection: more than 90 classics, most of them Audi, and plenty of them coachbuilt or converted. Treser specials, Bischofberger campers built on the Audi 100, a Crayford convertible and an Audi 5000 stretch limousine all sit in the same halls.
The model shop, the cafe and a play corner for small children are all in the same building, and the museum is a regular stop for classic car clubs.
What to Expect
- Siku from the very start: over 27,500 models from 1951 to today on more than 1,700 metres of glass shelving.
- The Audi model hall has over 11,500 models on more than 1,000 metres of glass, from tiny 1:160 pieces up to 1:4 scale, plus a separate display of over 1,000 Wiking models.
- The full size cars follow the Audi family tree: DKW and Auto Union, the Audi 50, 60 and 75, generation after generation of Audi 80, 90 and 100, a gullwing Audi Coupé GT, an NSU Ro 80 and an Audi V8 Evo.
- The conversions are what make it different: Treser's Audi Hunter, Largo and quattro roadster, the ARTZ Audi Quattro limousine and ARTZ Audi 200 estate, three Bischofberger "Family" campers on the Audi 100, the Audi 100 Crayford convertible and the Audi 5000 Picasso stretch limousine.
- Working Audis too: an Audi 80 police car, fire service Audi 100 and A4 estates, an A6 taxi, an A6 emergency doctor car and a Pollmann hearse built on the A6, with classics from VW, BMW, Ford, Mercedes, Porsche and Tempo alongside.
- A museum rally, a question trail on both the models and the cars, runs for kids and adults, with a small prize at the end on request. A card game of 32 of the museum's cars is sold in the shop.
- The model shop has over 8,000 models from Siku, Wiking, Bburago, Majorette, Minichamps, Norev, Schuco and weise-toys, plus 1970s and 1980s Monchhichi dolls.
- The cafe serves homemade seasonal cakes and tortes with coffee, and cake can be wrapped to take home. Small children have a play corner with Siku models and Toddys by Siku.
