Racing in Italy Vallelunga

Campagnano di Roma, ItalyHours varyFrom €7,890

Overview

Racing in Italy is a race team from near Milan, run by team principal Oren Shibi, that sells drives in the cars it races. At Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi it runs full day track days in a Mygale Formula 4 with an Alpine engine, Dallara Formula 3s with VW Spiess engines and a Dallara GP2 car sold as a Formula 2. Every drive comes with the team's mechanics, telemetry and a professional race driver as coach.

Vallelunga is also a race circuit for the team. Its 2026 calendar had three race weekends here, two FX Italian Series rounds and a Drexler Cup round, more than at any other circuit it visits, and paid seats in its Formula 3, Formula 4 and GT cars are sold for those weekends. A GT track day in a Mercedes AMG or an Audi R8 completes the menu.

The circuit is north of Rome. The team's offices and workshop are in Vigevano, and the beginner courses and supercar test drives are run at its home circuit at Castelletto di Branduzzo, south of Milan, which has its own listing.

What to Expect

  • The Formula 4 is a Mygale from 2018 with a 2.0 litre Alpine engine of 165 hp and a SADEV six speed sequential gearbox shifted on paddles. Before joining the team it raced in Danish F4.
  • There are two Dallara Formula 3s, both on VW Spiess engines: the F308 has 245 hp, 465 kg and a Drexler six speed paddle shift, and the newer F318 has 248 hp, 500 kg and a Hewland paddle shift. The team says its F308 is the car Daniel Ricciardo drove in the 2008 Formula 3 season.
  • The Formula 2 is a Dallara GP2 car built in 2005 and run on its 2008 setup: a 4.0 litre Mecachrome V8 of about 630 hp, a Hewland six speed sequential gearbox and 688 kg. It raced in the BossGP series.
  • The GT is a Mercedes AMG or an Audi R8, both 2023 cars built for the GT cup the team runs in the FX Italian Series.
  • Every one of these is a single driver car, so the coaching happens in the garage. After each session the coach puts the telemetry and onboard video up, goes through braking and turn in points, and the mechanics adjust the setup before the next run.
  • The team gets to the circuit the day before to unload and prepare the cars. The day opens with an internal briefing on the car and the circuit, then runs to the circuit's timetable on an active track shared with other cars, with marshals and strictly timed sessions.
  • A race weekend runs like a real team entry: seat fitting on Thursday (the team would rather do it earlier at its offices near Milan), two free practice sessions on Friday with a telemetry and video debrief after each, qualifying on Saturday, then the races on Saturday afternoon or Sunday and the trophies.

Things to Note

  • How it runs: Vallelunga is a dated stop on the team's season calendar, not a daily operation. In 2026 the car track days ran on 19 and 20 February and 10 and 11 June, the FX Italian Series rounds on 17 to 19 April and 12 to 13 September, and the Drexler Cup round on 3 to 5 July. Dates come from the team.
  • Track day prices, per person: Formula 4 €7,890 for 4 to 5 sessions of 20 minutes. GT €9,500 for 4 to 5 sessions of 25 minutes. Formula 3 €13,900 in the F308 or €16,400 in the F318 (the Italian language shop lists the F318 at €15,400), 4 to 5 sessions of about 25 minutes. Formula 2 €39,000 for 4 to 5 sessions of about 25 minutes.
  • What the track days include: the race team, mechanics and setup, a professional coach, telemetry, onboard video, transponder timing, fuel and transport of the car. The Formula 2 and Formula 3 days add a theory course and a helmet with microphone, gloves and suit. The Formula 4 day adds a used tyre set and circuit admission. The GT day adds used tyres, circuit admission, lunch and an aperitif.
  • Race weekend prices, per race: Formula 4 €12,000 at the FX Italian Series rounds or €15,000 at the Drexler Cup round. Formula 3 €23,700 in the F308 or €30,700 in the F318, which the team counts as five days with the team, three at the circuit and more than 6 hours and 300 km of driving. GT €22,000 at the FX Italian Series rounds. All include lunch and aperitif, storage, maintenance and car transport. Tyres: one used and one new set for the Formula 4, plus a rain set for the Formula 3, and two new sets and one used set for the GT. Driver admission to the circuit is not included.
  • Add ons: a new tyre set on the Formula 4 day at €1,800, extra new sets at race weekends at €1,450, racing licence assistance at €1,700, and driver and car insurance sold by the team (or full cover arranged through GULLWING). Drivers bringing their own race car can buy the team's services on their own: mechanic €350, telemetry €450, professional coach €500.
  • Who can drive: the Formula 2 and Formula 3 track days are only for drivers who have already driven a formula car. The Formula 4 and GT days take entry level drivers, and the team recommends its racing course first. The team says a racing licence is needed at most of the famous circuits. Race seats need an INT C licence in the formula cars and a C licence in the GT, which the team helps obtain. Anyone booking must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Size limits: the Formula 4 and the formula race seats take drivers up to 185 cm and 85 kg, with height given when ordering. The GT day and GT race take drivers up to 200 cm and 95 kg.
  • Deposit and damage: €10,000 on the Formula 2 and Formula 3 track days, which the team states is the most charged after an accident. €7,000 on the Formula 4 day and €20,000 on the GT day and every race seat, each waived when the team's car insurance is bought. Damage the driver causes to the car or a third party is charged under the list attached to the waiver signed before going on track, personal injury sits with the driver's own insurance, and international visitors declare the activity to their own insurer.
  • Gear: the GT day and all race seats exclude gear, so an FIA approved helmet, HANS, gloves, suit, shoes and underwear are the driver's own. Gear can be bought through the team with a month's notice.
  • Not included: travel, accommodation and any meals beyond those listed.
  • Weather: the Formula 4 runs only on a dry track and does not run in snow, heavy rain or on a frozen track, with the day postponed or fully refunded. The Formula 2 runs in light and heavy rain under the circuit organiser's rules.
  • Cancellation: the Formula 4 day at Vallelunga, the GT day and race seats up to 1 month before. Formula 2 and Formula 3 track days up to 2 weeks before the organiser's registration closes, under the organiser's refund policy. Date changes are free when asked more than 2 days ahead and subject to availability after that.
  • Booking: book and pay online on the team's shop before the day; cards are not taken at the circuit. The Formula 4 day takes up to 3 drivers per event. For a gift, write YES and the preferred date at checkout and fill in the voucher form; gift cards are sold in the same shop. Questions go to +39 02 8088 9801, WhatsApp +39 328 596 9126 or info@racinginitaly.com.
  • On the day: the team's box number is posted on the main board at the circuit entrance, and the crew wears yellow.
