Racing in Italy Red Bull Ring

Spielberg, AustriaHours varyFrom €6,900

Overview

Racing in Italy is a race team based near Milan, with Oren Shibi as team principal, that rents out seats in its own race cars. In Spielberg it brings three single seaters to the Red Bull Ring for full day track days: a Dallara GP2 car the team sells as a Formula 2, Dallara Formula 3s on VW Spiess engines, and an Alpine powered Mygale Formula 4. Mechanics, a telemetry engineer and a professional race driver as coach travel with the cars.

Beyond the single seaters, the Spielberg menu has a GT track day in a Mercedes AMG or an Audi R8, a motorcycle track day on a Honda CBR600 or a Yamaha R1, and paid Formula 3 and Formula 4 seats at the Drexler Cup round, a series the team races in.

Spielberg is in Styria, in central Austria. The team's offices and workshop are in Vigevano, and its beginner courses and supercar test drives run at its home circuit at Castelletto di Branduzzo, south of Milan, which has its own listing.

What to Expect

  • The Formula 2 is a 2005 Dallara GP2 car on a 2008 setup: a 4.0 litre Mecachrome V8 of about 630 hp, a Hewland six speed sequential gearbox and 688 kg. Its BossGP mileage includes this circuit.
  • Two Dallara Formula 3s run on VW Spiess engines. The F308 has 245 hp, a Drexler six speed paddle shift and 465 kg; the F318 has 248 hp, a Hewland paddle shift and 500 kg. The team says its F308 is the car Daniel Ricciardo raced in the 2008 Formula 3 season, the year Nico Hulkenberg was in the same championship.
  • The Formula 4 is a 2018 Mygale with a 2.0 litre Alpine engine making 165 hp and a SADEV six speed sequential worked by paddles. Before the team bought it, it ran in Danish F4.
  • The GT is a Mercedes AMG or an Audi R8, both 2023 cars built for the GT cup the team contests in the FX Italian Series.
  • Riders get the team's own bikes, a Honda CBR600 or a Yamaha R1.
  • There is only one seat in a single seater, so the coaching happens in the garage. After each session the coach puts the telemetry and onboard video up, goes through the braking and turn in points, and the mechanics adjust the setup before the next run.
  • The crew arrives the day before to unload and prepare the cars. The day starts with the team's own briefing on the car and the circuit, then runs to the circuit's session timetable on a live track shared with other cars, with marshals and strictly timed sessions.
  • A race seat is a full team programme: seat fitting on Thursday (the team prefers to do it earlier at its offices near Milan), two free practice sessions on Friday with a telemetry and video debrief after each, qualifying on Saturday, then the races on Saturday afternoon or Sunday and the trophies.

Things to Note

  • How it runs: the team comes to this circuit on set dates in its season calendar; there are no daily sessions. The 2026 dates were the Drexler Cup race weekend on 10 to 12 April, car track days on 4 and 5 May and an extra Formula 2 day on 28 August. No motorcycle date at Spielberg was on the 2026 calendar. Dates come from the team.
  • Track day prices per person, at the team's European circuit rates: Formula 2 €39,000 for 4 to 5 sessions of about 25 minutes. Formula 3 €16,400 in the F308 or €19,900 in the F318, 4 to 5 sessions of about 25 minutes. Formula 4 €9,490 for 4 to 5 sessions of 20 minutes. GT €15,500 for 4 to 5 sessions of 25 minutes. Motorcycle €6,900 on the CBR600 or €8,100 on the R1, 6 to 8 sessions of 25 to 30 minutes.
  • What each track day includes: every car day comes with the race team, mechanics and setup, a professional coach, telemetry, onboard video, transponder timing, fuel and transport of the car. The Formula 2 and Formula 3 days also include a theory course plus a helmet with microphone, gloves and a suit. The Formula 4 day also includes a used tyre set and circuit admission. The GT day also includes used tyres, circuit admission, lunch and an aperitif.
  • Race seat prices, per race at the Drexler Cup round: Formula 4 €15,000. Formula 3 €23,700 in the F308 or €30,700 in the F318, which the team counts as five days with the team, three at the circuit and more than 6 hours and 300 km of driving. Both include lunch and aperitif, one used and one new tyre set (plus a rain set in the Formula 3), storage, maintenance and car transport. Circuit admission for the driver is not included. The Italian language shop also lists a Histocup option for the Formula 4 seat at €15,000, which the English shop does not.
  • Add ons: a new tyre set on the Formula 4 day €1,800, extra new tyre sets at race weekends €1,450, racing licence assistance €1,700, and driver and car insurance sold by the team (or full cover arranged through GULLWING). Drivers with their own race car can buy the team's services separately: mechanic €350, telemetry €450, professional coach €500.
  • Who can drive: the Formula 2 and Formula 3 days are only for drivers who have already driven a formula car. The Formula 4 and GT days take entry level drivers, and the team recommends its racing course first. The team says most of the famous circuits require a racing licence. Race seats need an INT C licence, and the GT needs a C licence, which the team helps obtain. Anyone booking must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Size limits: the Formula 4 day and the formula race seats take drivers up to 185 cm and 85 kg, with height given when ordering. The GT day takes drivers up to 200 cm and 95 kg. The motorcycle track day takes riders up to 190 cm and 95 kg, with a driving licence to bring.
  • Deposit and damage: €10,000 on the Formula 2 and Formula 3 days, which the team states is the most charged after an accident. €7,000 on the Formula 4 day and €20,000 on the GT day and race seats, each unless the team's car insurance is bought. €5,000 on the motorcycle day. Damage the driver causes to the vehicle or a third party is charged under the list attached to the waiver signed before going on track, personal injury sits with the driver's own insurance, and international visitors declare the activity to their own insurer.
  • Gear: the GT day and the race seats exclude gear, so an FIA approved helmet, HANS, gloves, suit, shoes and underwear are the driver's own. Gear can be bought through the team with a month's notice.
  • Not included: travel, accommodation and any meals beyond those listed.
  • Weather: the Formula 4 runs only on a dry track and does not run in snow, heavy rain or on a frozen track, with the day postponed or fully refunded. The Formula 2 runs in light and heavy rain under the circuit organiser's rules.
  • Cancellation: the Formula 4 day, the GT day, the motorcycle day and race seats up to 1 month before. Formula 2 and Formula 3 days up to 2 weeks before the organiser's registration closes, under the organiser's refund policy. Date changes are free when asked for more than 2 days ahead and subject to availability after that.
  • Booking: booked and paid online in the team's shop before the day; cards are not taken at the circuit. The Formula 4 day takes up to 3 drivers per event. For a gift, write YES and the preferred date at checkout and fill in the voucher form; gift cards are sold in the same shop. Questions go to +39 02 8088 9801, WhatsApp +39 328 596 9126 or info@racinginitaly.com.
  • On the day: the team's box number is on the main board at the circuit entrance, and the crew wears yellow.
