Racing in Italy Monza
Overview
Racing in Italy is a race team from near Milan, with its offices and workshop in Vigevano, that rents out the single seaters it races. At Autodromo Nazionale Monza it runs full day track days in three of them: a Dallara GP2 car sold as a Formula 2, Dallara Formula 3s with VW Spiess engines, and a Mygale Formula 4 with an Alpine engine. Each comes with the team's mechanics, an engineer on the telemetry and a professional race driver as coach.
The rest of the menu here is a GT track day in a Mercedes AMG or Audi R8, a paid seat in the team's Formula 3 or Formula 4 at the Drexler Cup race weekend and Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix hospitality packs.
The team's beginner courses and supercar test drives run at its home circuit at Castelletto di Branduzzo, south of Milan, which has its own listing.
What to Expect
- The Formula 2 is a Dallara GP2 car from 2005 with a 4.0 litre Mecachrome V8 of about 630 hp, a Hewland six speed sequential gearbox on paddles and 688 kg. It raced in the BossGP series, including at Monza.
- The Formula 3 is a Dallara F308 (245 hp) or the newer F318 (248 hp), both with VW Spiess engines and paddle shift. The team says its F308 was raced by Daniel Ricciardo in the 2008 Formula 3 season.
- The Formula 4 is a 2018 Mygale with a 2.0 litre Alpine engine making 165 hp and a six speed sequential gearbox with paddles, a car that raced in Danish F4.
- The GT option is a Mercedes AMG or an Audi R8, both 2023 cars prepared for the FX Italian Series GT cup.
- You drive alone. The coaching happens between sessions: after each run the team puts your telemetry and onboard video on screen, shows where to brake and turn, then adjusts the setup before you go out again.
- The day runs to the circuit's session timetable on an active track shared with other cars, with marshals and strict timing. The team arrives the day before to unload and prepare the cars, and the morning starts with a briefing on the car and the track.
- Race weekends follow a real team programme: seat fitting on Thursday, two free practice sessions on Friday with a debrief after each, qualifying on Saturday, then the races on Saturday afternoon or Sunday, and trophies.
Things to Note
- How it runs: Monza track days are dated two day blocks on the team's season calendar, not daily sessions. The 2026 calendar had Monza on 20 to 21 March, 4 to 5 June and 1 to 2 October, plus the Drexler Cup race weekend on 31 July to 2 August. Dates come from the team.
- Track day prices, per person: Formula 2 €39,000 for 4 to 5 sessions of about 25 minutes. Formula 3 €13,900 in the F308 or €16,400 in the F318, 4 to 5 sessions of about 25 minutes. Formula 4 €7,890 for 4 to 5 sessions of 20 minutes. GT €9,500 for 4 to 5 sessions of 25 minutes. Each includes the race team, coach, telemetry, onboard video, transponder timing, fuel and transport of the car; the Formula 4 and GT days also include circuit admission and the GT day includes lunch and an aperitif.
- Race weekend prices, per race: Formula 4 in the Drexler Cup €15,000. Formula 3 €23,700 in the F308 or €30,700 in the F318. Both include lunch and aperitif, tyres (one used set and one new set, plus a rain set for the Formula 3), storage, setup and car transport.
- Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix packs: the Special VIP pack is €8,000 for a seat in the central grandstand with a guided paddock tour. Refundable in full up to 30 days before the race, not after.
- Add ons: a new tyre set for the Formula 4 day at €1,800, extra new sets at race weekends at €1,450, racing licence assistance at €1,700, and driver and car insurance sold by the team (or full cover arranged through GULLWING). Onboard video with telemetry is included rather than sold. Drivers bringing their own race car can buy the team's services: mechanic €350, telemetry €450, professional coach €500, full support pack in northern Italy €1,450.
- Who can drive: the Formula 2 and Formula 3 days are only for drivers who have already driven a formula car. The Formula 4 and GT days accept entry level drivers, and the team recommends its racing course first. The team says a racing licence is required at most of the famous circuits, and race weekends need one (INT C for the formula cars, C for the GT). Anyone booking must be 18 years of age or older.
- Size limits: Formula 4 and the formula race weekends take drivers up to 185 cm and 85 kg, with height stated when ordering. The GT takes drivers up to 200 cm and 95 kg.
- Deposit and damage: Formula 2 and Formula 3 track days carry a €10,000 deposit, which is the most charged after an accident. The Formula 4 day carries a €7,000 deposit unless car insurance is bought, and the GT day and race weekends €20,000 unless insurance is bought. Damage you cause to the car or a third party is charged to you under the list attached to the waiver signed before going on track, personal injury sits with your own insurance, and international visitors declare the activity to their own insurer.
- Gear: the Formula 2 and Formula 3 track days include a helmet with microphone, race gloves and a suit. The GT track day and the race weekends do not include gear: an FIA approved helmet, HANS, gloves, suit, shoes and underwear are your own, as is the licence.
- Not included: your travel, accommodation and meals beyond those listed.
- Weather: the Formula 4 runs only on a dry track and does not run in snow, heavy rain or on a frozen track, with the day postponed or fully refunded. The Formula 2 runs in light and heavy rain under the circuit organiser's rules.
- Cancellation: Formula 4, GT and race weekends up to 1 month before. Formula 2 and Formula 3 track days up to 2 weeks before the organiser's registration closes, under the organiser's refund policy. Date changes are free when asked more than 2 days ahead, subject to availability after that.
- Booking: book and pay online on the team's shop before the day; cards are not taken at the circuit. The Formula 4 day takes up to 3 drivers per event. For a gift, write YES and the preferred date at checkout and fill in the voucher form; gift cards are sold in the same shop. Questions go to +39 02 8088 9801, WhatsApp +39 328 596 9126 or info@racinginitaly.com.
- On the day: the team's box number is on the main board at the circuit entrance, and the crew wears yellow.
