Muzeum motocyklů Křivoklát
Overview
Muzeum motocyklů Křivoklát is a purpose-built museum opened in 2008, located in the podhradí beneath Křivoklát Castle. The museum presents around 150 historic exhibits focused on Czech marques and period machines.
Displays include near-complete series of serially produced Jawa and ČZ touring motorcycles, mopeds and small machines, plus unrestored examples and restored exhibits with brief technical data. Seasonal opening times apply—check the official site before visiting.
What to Expect
A compact, specialist display laid out over two floors with clear labeling and technical notes on many machines.
Look out for:
- A near-complete run of early Jawa touring motorcycles and a strong ČZ exhibit on the ground floor.
- Jawa automobiles, mopeds (Stadion, Jaweta, Babeta) and small Pionýr machines on the first floor.
- A mix of restored and unrestored machines that show construction and patina.
- Comparative foreign examples and rarer items like early Praga and Laurin & Klement pieces.
Best way to experience it:
Arrive during the March–October public hours (weekends are typical) or contact the museum for group visits in winter. Combine the visit with a walk around Křivoklát Castle to see the local history context.
