Museu Automóvel Joaquim Santos
Overview
Run by the Clássicos de Penafiel club, this small museum displays rotating selections of classic cars and motorcycles alongside the personal trophies, photos and team artefacts of rally driver Joaquim Santos. The covered exhibition area is about 200 m² and sits next to the club headquarters in Parque da Cidade de Penafiel.
The museum opened in 2019 and was officially renamed Museu Automóvel Joaquim Santos in 2025. Entry is free on public opening days; group visits can be arranged by contacting the club via the museum website or email.
What to Expect
A focused, community-led collection centred on local motorsport history and club vehicles.
Look out for:

- Joaquim Santos’s personal collection of trophies, photos and team memorabilia from Diabolique Motorsport.
- Informal, club-run atmosphere with opportunities to speak to volunteers and enthusiasts.
- Compact layout — most exhibits are within a single covered hall of roughly 200 m².
Best way to experience it:
Visit on a weekend afternoon when the museum is open (Saturdays and Sundays) and allow time to chat with club members. If you’re part of a group or need a weekday visit, email geral@classicosdepenafiel.pt to arrange an appointment.

- Admission is reported as free, but donations/support to the club are appreciated.
