More Collection (モア・コレクション)

More Collection is a specialist minicar shop in Ote, central Matsumoto, open since 2004. Minicar is the Japanese collector's word for a finished scale model car, and the shop sells nothing else, with models from more than 70 makers on the shelves.

It is a 1:43 shop at heart, and the brand wall runs from Japanese makers such as Ebbro, Kyosho and Aoshima to the European collector lines, with plastic kit makers Tamiya and Hasegawa in the mix.

It is a small, personal shop. The website puts the focus on talking with customers and letting them choose at their own pace, and new arrivals go up on the shop's Instagram.

• 1:43 fills the walls. The shop's photos show shelf after shelf of boxed 1:43 models, with Minichamps and IXO boxes front and centre and White Box beside them.
• The brand list leans to collector lines: Ignition Model, Spark, AUTOart, BBR, Make Up, TSM Model, Tarmac Works, Mini GT and Tomica, among more than 70 makers.
• The room is warm timber shelving along the walls, with glass cases for larger models and a big Mazda 787B in its orange and green Renown livery on a plinth in the shop's photos.
• Metal racks hold display extras such as boxed garage lift sets for posing models.

• Hours: 11am to 6pm. Closed every Wednesday and on set Thursdays, usually the 2nd and 3rd of the month; the website posts a calendar of open days for the current and next month.
• Entry: free to walk in and browse. Visits can also be arranged ahead by phone or the contact form.
• Payment: cash only. No cards are accepted.
• Getting there by bus: from the Oshiro exit of JR Matsumoto Station, the Town Sneaker North Course bus runs to the Kamitsuchimachi stop, then it is a 5 minute walk. On foot from the station the shop gives 30 minutes.
• Driving: the shop puts it 20 minutes from Matsumoto IC on the Nagano Expressway, and it has its own parking.
• Mail order and reservations: models can be bought by mail order and reserved ahead. The contact form on the website gets a reply within 3 business days as a rule, and a free email membership is offered for shop news.
