Militärmuseum Wildegg
Overview
Militärmuseum Wildegg is a private museum housing a 5,500 m² collection of Swiss Army vehicles, tanks, aircraft, artillery and support equipment from WWII to around 2000. The collection spans wheeled and tracked vehicles, drones, pilots' trainers and air‑defence pieces.
The museum is open to the public every first Saturday from April through October and offers guided visits and group bookings by appointment. A shop and museum café operate on museum days; photography is permitted but dogs are not.
What to Expect
Begin with an overview of Swiss Army equipment across five large halls, where vehicles and aircraft are displayed indoors with descriptive labels.
Look out for:
- Centurion, AMX‑13 and Swiss Pz series tanks and APCs such as M‑113 variants.
- Jet and trainer aircraft (Pilatus, Vampire, Hawker Hunter, Mirage IIIS) displayed in hangar space.
- Artillery, air‑defence guns and early military drones.
- Sections on ABC/civil‑defence and logistical support equipment.
Best way to experience it: Arrive on an official open day to access the shop and café and to see most exhibits; if you need a weekday visit or a guided tour for a group, arrange an appointment in advance.
