Overview

Historama in Ferlach is a transport and technology museum run by the volunteer association Nostalgiebahnen in Kärnten. Housed in a former KESTAG industrial hall, it displays trams, historic cars and buses, firefighting vehicles, locomotives and large stationary engines.

The museum is part of the Nostalgiebahnen network and links with heritage steam train rides, draisines and vintage tram/bus operations. It holds the Austrian Museum Quality Seal and showcases several unique pieces, including early aviation and detailed model railway layouts.

What to Expect

Short intro paragraph.

Look out for:

  • Restored historic streetcars, including items connected to the Klagenfurt summer tram.
  • Vintage VW buses, passenger vehicles and firefighting engines.
  • Large stationary steam engine and a rare 1913 Fürst Khevenhüller flying machine.
  • Detailed model railway layouts and several locomotives from regional lines.

Best way to experience it:

Plan to combine a museum visit with nearby Nostalgiebahnen attractions (heritage steam train rides or draisine trips) using combo options on the operator’s site; allow time to walk the exhibition hall and study the interpretive labels and model displays.
