Bysarna Speedway

Bysarna is Gotland’s long-standing speedway club, now operating from facilities in Hejdeby outside Visby. The club runs a youth training track, clubhouse and workshop space and is active in local revival projects to re-establish full-size speedway on the island.

Visitors to the site will mostly find training sessions, volunteer-run events and occasional public activities rather than regular professional race meets. The club’s presence is rooted in local history and community motorsport development on Gotland.

You’ll mainly watch club training and see maintenance areas and youth coaching.

What you’ll see

• Youth training on an approximately 185 m practice track at the Hejdeby site.
• Clubhouse, depots/boxes and changing rooms used by members and volunteers.
• Mechanics working on bikes and informal meet-and-greet opportunities with riders and coaches.
• Occasional small events or open “try” sessions organised by the club (schedule varies seasonally).

Best way to experience it

Check the club’s schedule before you go, aim for a daytime training session to see riding and coaching, and allow time to speak with volunteers for context on the club’s history and revival projects.
