Overview

Anglesey Circuit runs its own driving experiences through the Performance Driving Centre, the race school Richard Peacock started in 1978 and moved to the circuit he built here in 1995. The headline drive is a Formula Ford 1600 single seater on the Club circuit, after familiarisation laps in a sports saloon and a briefing on flags and car behaviour. The instructors have raced this type of car.

The rest of the menu runs on the National circuit: a Lotus Elise in three course lengths, a Ford Fiesta ST-Line touring car with a roll cage and harness, a three car day, passenger hot laps, a skid control course and ARDS race licence courses for adults and juniors.

The circuit is on the west coast of Anglesey at Ty Croes, laid out to Peacock's own design. Experience days run on a handful of set dates a year, so it suits a planned weekend in North Wales. Race meetings and track days use the circuit on other dates.

What to Expect

  • The Formula Ford 1600 is the big ticket: a classic single seater on racing tyres, driven on the Club circuit in Formula Race Car Trial 1 or, with a second run after a short break, in Trial 2. Before the single seater there are familiarisation laps in a sports saloon, a briefing on flag signals, car behaviour and what if scenarios, a practical assessment, then a sighting lap behind the safety car. The day ends with an informal debrief from the instructor.
  • The Lotus Elise courses run on the National circuit with the instructor driving demonstration laps first, then a seat swap. Lotus Encounter is the taster, Lotus Encounter Plus doubles it, and Lotus Driving Technique is two sessions with the instructor in the passenger seat giving feedback. A Mazda MX5 can be chosen instead of the Elise on all three.
  • The Ford Fiesta touring car is a 1.0 litre EcoBoost ST-Line built as a race car with a roll cage, Sparco seats and a four point harness. Touring Car Course 1 is the briefing, instructor demonstration laps, your drive and a debrief; Touring Car Course 2 splits a longer drive over two sessions.
  • Stylish Saloon Cars is a session in the MX5 then a session in the Elise, back to back, to feel the difference between the two. Multi Car Magic puts the Formula Ford on the Club circuit then the Elise and the Fiesta on the National circuit in one day.
  • Passenger rides are four laps of the National circuit with an ARDS instructor driving, in the Elise (High Speed Ride) or in the touring car (Touring Car Hot Laps), with hard acceleration and braking the whole way round.
  • Skid control is theory then driving on a slippery surface, finishing with a timed slalom and a certificate of competency. The Car Control Course is the one to one follow on for people planning to compete, working on throttle and steering balance at the limit of tyre grip.
  • Race licence and training: the ARDS Race Licence Course is a written paper and an on track assessment in the school cars. Circuit Skills Plus is a half day one to one in the Elise with a debrief between each session; Rear Wheel Drive Plus is the same format in the MX5; the Intensive Race Training Programme starts with an assessment in a sports saloon, moves to the Elise, roughly doubles the track time and adds an extended skid car session. Junior ARDS and Junior Circuit Skills and Racing Procedures are the junior versions, with a senior ARDS instructor.
  • Single seaters use the 0.8 mile Club circuit with its banked section and the long sweeping Church corner; everything else runs on the 1.2 mile National circuit.

Things to Note

  • Experience days run on about five set dates a year, published on the Performance Driving Centre page of the circuit website, with extra dates added when a day sells out. The 2026 days were 14 March, 3 May, 5 July, 22 August and 17 October; on 18 October 2026 no 2027 dates had been published. The circuit can also cancel or add dates.
  • Drive prices and laps: Formula Race Car Trial 1 £199 for ten laps, Trial 2 £259 for ten laps plus eight. Lotus Encounter £135 for five laps, Lotus Encounter Plus £175 for double the laps, Lotus Driving Technique £295 for two sessions of ten laps. Touring Car Course 1 £225, Touring Car Course 2 £275 for 20 laps over two sessions. Stylish Saloon Cars £275 for ten laps in the MX5 and ten in the Elise. Multi Car Magic £395 for ten laps in the Formula Ford plus eight each in the Elise and the Fiesta.
  • Passenger rides: High Speed Ride £49 and Touring Car Hot Laps £60.
  • Courses: Skid Control Winter Driving Course £135 for one hour, Car Control Course £180, ARDS Race Licence Course £310 for at least three hours, Circuit Skills Plus £525 and Rear Wheel Drive Plus £525 for three sessions of 20 to 25 minutes, Intensive Race Training Programme £1,095, Junior ARDS £600 for one day with four 40 minute driving sessions, Junior Circuit Skills and Racing Procedures £525 for three sessions of 20 to 25 minutes. Package One £695 bundles Circuit Skills Plus and the ARDS course for £140 off; Package Two £1,195 bundles the Intensive programme and the ARDS course for £210 off.
  • Every course is sold as a voucher online through the circuit's TicketCo shop or by phone on 01407 811400. A voucher is turned into a date by phoning the office with the voucher number. The Car Control Course, the ARDS courses, Circuit Skills Plus, Rear Wheel Drive Plus, the Intensive Race Training Programme, the junior courses and the two packages are booked by phone.
  • The office is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Email: admin@angleseycircuit.com.
  • Nothing is sold on top of the ticket price: no photo, video or extra lap options.
  • Ages published by course: skid control from 17 years of age, Circuit Skills Plus from 18 years of age, Junior ARDS from 14 years of age with manual gearbox driving experience expected, Junior Circuit Skills and Racing Procedures for 14 to 17 years of age.
  • The ARDS Race Licence Course follows Motorsport UK and ARDS guidelines. Candidates get the Motorsport UK Go Racing pack beforehand and have the eye test section of the licence application signed off by an optician. The Junior ARDS written exam needs every answer right in sections 1, 2 and 3, and the track assessment comes at the end of the fourth session.
  • A race suit, helmet and gloves are supplied for the Formula Ford drives; a race suit and helmet for the Fiesta touring car.
  • Touring Car Hot Laps passengers have to be agile enough to climb in and out through the roll cage, and the circuit says it is not for anyone claustrophobic.
  • The booking platform's buyer terms give no right to cancel a purchase unless the event itself is cancelled; refund requests go to both TicketCo and the circuit.
  • The circuit is at Ty Croes on the west coast of Anglesey, off the A4080, postcode LL63 5TF.
