2027 The 105th Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

Pikes Peak - America's Mountain · Colorado Springs, United States27 Jun 20271 day

About This Event

Cars have raced to the summit of Pikes Peak since 1916, and the Race to the Clouds still sends them up one at a time against the clock: 12.42 miles (20 km) and 156 turns of the Pikes Peak Highway, finishing at 14,115 feet (4,302 m). The course climbs nearly 5,000 feet from its start at mile 7 of the highway, so every run ends in thin mountain air high above Colorado Springs.

What to Expect

  • Race week opens with tech inspection on Monday 21 June, then four days of practice and qualifying on the mountain from Tuesday 22 to Friday 25 June, Fan Fest in downtown Colorado Springs during the week, and the race itself on Sunday 27 June; 2027 session and gate times are not yet published.
  • The organiser's divisions run from Unlimited prototypes through Time Attack 1, the Pikes Peak GT4 Trophy by Yokohama, Open Wheel and Pikes Peak Open, plus exhibition entries; the 2027 entry list is not out yet.
  • Romain Dumas, who took his sixth overall win in 2026, holds the course record of 7:57.148, set in 2018 in the electric Volkswagen I.D. R.
  • June near the top of the mountain averages a high of about 10°C (50°F) and lows below freezing, far colder than Colorado Springs below.

Best Way to Experience It

  • Race week gives three ways to see the cars: practice and qualifying on the mountain, race day on the mountain, and Fan Fest downtown, where competitors park their race cars on the street and sign autographs.
  • Practice and qualifying had their own online only spectator tickets in 2026, limited per day and not sold at the Gateway, with viewing only at Pits and Turn 1 and at Devils Playground; 2027 practice tickets are not yet announced.
  • The organiser's spectator areas on the course run from Pits and Turn 1 near the start, through the Halfway Picnic Grounds, Glen Cove and Cove Creek, up to Devils Playground high on the mountain; each area has its own ticket and its own spectator guide, and the 2027 areas are set when tickets go on sale.

Good to Know

  • Driving: The course is the Pikes Peak Highway, whose entrance on Highway 24 at Cascade the City of Colorado Springs puts 15 minutes west of the city. Spectators drive in through the highway's Gateway on race day, and the number of tickets for each spectator area is limited by its parking.
  • Public transport: The organiser runs Fan Buses to set viewing areas on race day, with room for coolers and camp chairs; 2027 pick up points, times and prices are not yet published.
  • Rideshare and taxis: Uber and Lyft both operate in Colorado Springs.
  • Best value route: Race day tickets are priced per vehicle by the number of people in the car, so the cost per person falls with every seat filled.
  • Tickets: 2027 race tickets go on sale on 1 December 2026 through ppihc.org, with prices still to be published.
  • Where to stay: Colorado Springs Airport is the event's official airport and The Broadmoor its featured resort, and the organiser's Plan Your Trip page links partner hotels and travel packages.
  • Kit: Near freezing mornings and strong sun at altitude call for warm layers, a hat and sun protection.

Is This Event Right For You?

  • Just want to look around? Fan Fest needs no ticket: it is a free street party on Tejon Street in downtown Colorado Springs, with race cars on display, driver autograph sessions and beer gardens, and it goes ahead rain or shine.
  • Do I need a ticket to watch the race? Yes, watching from the mountain on race day takes a ticket for a set spectator area.
  • Coming for the motorcycles? The race is for cars only now: motorcycle competition ended after the 2021 event.
  • Can I take part? The organiser will open competitor applications and volunteer registration for 2027 in the coming months.
