2027 MotoGP Grand Prix of Thailand
About This Event
The Grand Prix of Thailand opens the 2027 MotoGP season and is the first race for the new 850cc bikes under MotoGP's 2027 technical rules. It runs at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, a rural city in Thailand's northeast that fills with teams and fans for race weekend, in heat that pushes towards 40°C.
What to Expect
- MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 all race at Buriram. In the 2026 format Friday was practice, Saturday had qualifying and the MotoGP Sprint, and Sunday had the Grand Prix races, with 26 laps for MotoGP.
- The track is 4.554 km with 12 turns and a 1,000 m straight. Two long straights in the first two sectors take the bikes past 320 km/h, then a big braking zone into the final hairpin is where races have been won and lost.
- The circuit holds 100,000 people in total.
- The 850cc bikes run at Buriram a month before the race too: the official MotoGP test there is on 6 and 7 February 2027, after the shakedown and Sepang tests.
Best Way to Experience It
- The stands were sold as three day passes in 2026, so one ticket covered Friday practice through to Sunday's races. The Side Stand and Brand Stand were the cheapest stands and the Grand Stand the most expensive. The full 2026 list is in the cost breakdown.
- The Paddock Pass was a separate add on in 2026, sold for less when bought with a main race ticket.
- MotoGP Premier already lists 2027 packages. Rider B is a Sidestand B ticket for Friday to Sunday with a guided paddock tour. Chicane adds a team garage experience, a rider appearance and a team event to a three day grandstand ticket. The VIP Village passes cover Saturday and Sunday with lounge hospitality, paddock access, a pit lane walk and a rider Q&A.
- Sro Ground, Buriram's walking street, runs from the south end of Romburi Street and closes to vehicles in the evening. A spare day before or after the race fits Prasat Phanom Rung, a Khmer temple on an extinct volcano about 40 km south of Buriram.

- Best value route: Without a car there are three ways in from Bangkok: the flight from Don Mueang to Buriram Airport, the train from Krung Thep Aphiwat, or the bus from Mo Chit, then Grab or a hired driver to the circuit.
