2027 MotoGP Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar

Lusail International Circuit · Lusail, Qatar12–14 Mar 20273 days

About This Event

Lusail is the only round of the MotoGP World Championship raced at night, under permanent floodlights on the outskirts of Doha. The 5.38 km layout pairs a main straight of over a kilometre with 10 right and 6 left corners, and artificial grass surrounds the track to keep the neighbouring desert's sand off it.

What to Expect

  • Qatar is Round 2 of the 2027 season, one week after the opener at Buriram in Thailand, and one of the first races of MotoGP's new rules: 850cc engines in place of 1000cc, Pirelli tyres in place of Michelin, less aero and no holeshot devices.
  • MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 all raced at Lusail in 2025. In 2026 the weekend ran free practice on Friday, qualifying and the Sprint on Saturday and the Grand Prix on Sunday. The 2027 timetable and session times are not yet announced by the organiser.
  • The crowd builds through the weekend: 10,526 people on day one in 2025, 17,230 on day two and 22,565 on race day (Qatar News Agency figures).
  • Giant screens are spread around the circuit, and in 2026 every ticket included the Fan Zone, with entertainment for all ages, and the MotoGP merchandise outlets.
  • Mid March is just ahead of the Al Sarayat season, the thunderstorm spell the Qatar Meteorology Department says usually starts in the final third of March. Its forecast for 15 March 2026 was a 30°C high in Doha and relatively cool by night.

Best Way to Experience It

  • One three day ticket covered Friday to Sunday in 2026, and Friday drew the smallest crowd in 2025, which leaves Friday practice for trying both the Main Grandstand and Lusail Hill.
  • Main Grandstand: free, unreserved seating in 2026, looking over the main straight, the paddock and the podium.
  • Lusail Hill: the general admission area in 2026, a raised bank at Turn 1 where the field launches off the line and charges into the first corner.

Good to Know

  • Driving: The circuit is in Al Wusail off North Relief Road, on the outskirts of Doha. Every 2026 ticket included free parking, and 2027 parking is not yet announced.
  • Public transport: For 2026 the circuit planned a shuttle from Lusail Metro Station on the Doha Metro. No 2027 shuttle or transport plan is announced yet.
  • Rideshare and taxis: Uber runs in Doha around the clock and books local taxis in the same app. Every 2026 ticket included the circuit's taxi pick up and drop off zones.
  • Best value route: With no 2027 shuttle announced, Uber or a taxi to the circuit's drop off zone is the way to the gate without a car that the circuit confirmed in 2026.
  • Tickets: 2027 tickets will be sold through tickets.lcsc.qa, and no on sale date is announced yet. A three day adult ticket was QAR 200 (about US$55) in 2026, sold as mobile tickets in the Lusail Tickets app, up to eight full price tickets per person, and not for resale.
  • Gates and reentry: Under the 2026 rules, leaving the security perimeter needs a scan out: a ticket that was not scanned out cannot get back in, and no one is admitted after the end of each day.
  • Bringing things in: People and bags are searched at entry. The circuit's ticket terms bar your own food and drink, bottles, cans, glass, alcohol, drones, selfie sticks, laser devices and walkie talkies.
