2027 MotoGP Repsol Grand Prix of Portugal
About This Event
Portimão's lap rises and falls through the Algarve hills, with a 12% downhill drop at its steepest and a 969 m main straight. The 2027 round brings MotoGP's new rules era to that lap: smaller engines, less aero and a new tyre supplier.
What to Expect
- The 2027 round moves from late November to the first weekend of October and is the last European round before MotoGP heads to Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. Valencia closes the season on 28 November.
- Three World Championship classes race over the weekend: MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3.
- 2027 is the first season of MotoGP's new rules. Engines drop from 1000cc to 850cc, ride height and holeshot devices are banned, the front fairing is 50 mm narrower, the fuel is 100% sustainable and Pirelli takes over from Michelin as tyre supplier.
- The MotoGP lap is 4.59 km with 15 corners, nine right and six left.
- Early October in Portimão averages about 22°C by day and 15°C at night, with some rain on about 8 days of the month.
Best Way to Experience It
- Grandstand tickets in 2026 were three day Weekend Packages tied to one stand and its gate, so the stand picked was the view for practice, qualifying and both race days. Sol Verde was the cheapest of the nine stands and Main Grandstand Upper the dearest. The 2027 grandstand list is not yet announced by the organiser.
- MotoGP's 2027 hospitality packages for Portimão are two day Saturday and Sunday passes. VIP Village includes a rider Q&A, a guided paddock tour, a service road tour and a pit lane walk. The Apex packages add a two day paddock pass and a team garage visit, and Apex Grid adds grid access for the MotoGP or Moto2 race and a podium photo. Prices are not yet published.
Good to Know
- Driving: The circuit is about 4.5 km north of the A22 motorway on a direct road from the Mexilhoeira Grande exit, a 15 minute drive from Portimão and Lagos by the circuit's own figure. In 2025 the Main Grandstand car park took paid permits sold in advance only, with no spaces sold at the circuit. 2027 parking is not yet announced by the organiser.
- Public transport: In 2025 shuttles for ticket holders ran to the circuit from Portimão, Figueira and Lagos. The 2027 shuttle plan is not yet announced by the organiser.
- Rideshare and taxis: Bolt runs rides in the Algarve, including pick ups at Portimão bus terminal. The organiser has not published a rideshare or taxi drop off point for 2027.
- Best value route: In 2025 the shuttles and the outer car parks, 10 to 30 minutes' walk from the stands, were both free with a ticket. The circuit's MotoGP page links Sixt for car hire.
- Gates and reentry: In 2025 each of the nine grandstands had its own gate in the stand's colour, and a ticket opened only its own gate. Entry needed the ticket plus official photo ID (citizen card, ID card, passport or driving licence), and leaving and coming back in was allowed, with every exit and entry logged.
- Bringing things in: In 2025 food and drink for your own use was allowed and bottles could be asked to go in without caps. Alcohol could not be drunk in the grandstands, only in set areas near the Main Grandstand. Lenses over 200mm and tripods were not allowed. Helmets were allowed in the stands, and helmet storage cost €3 (about US$3) a day or €7 (about US$8) for three days.
- Cash and cards: In 2025 there were no ATMs inside the circuit, and the food and drink outlets took cash or card.
- Tickets: 2027 tickets are not yet on sale. In 2026 grandstand weekend tickets started at €70 (about US$79), sold as non refundable digital tickets in the webook app through motogp-portugal.com.
