2027 MotoGP PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia
About This Event
Sepang is a 16 metre wide track where two long straights feed into slow corners, and that width gives MotoGP riders room to pass. At 5.54 km it is one of the longest laps on the calendar, and the heat and humidity south of Kuala Lumpur make every lap harder on the riders.
What to Expect
- MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 all run across the three days under MotoGP's new 2027 format: Friday ends with a 15 minute Sprint qualifying session that sets Saturday's Sprint grid, Saturday has Grand Prix qualifying and the Sprint, and Sunday has the Moto3 and Moto2 races before the MotoGP Grand Prix.
- The lap is 5.54 km with 10 right and 5 left corners, the longest straight is 920 m, and the MotoGP Grand Prix runs 20 laps.
- The Sepang complex covers 2,300 acres and also holds a hotel, a shopping centre and a golf course.
- Late October falls in Malaysia's monsoon transition. In 2026 MetMalaysia forecast thunderstorms with heavy rain, lightning and strong winds over short periods, mostly in the afternoons and early evenings, over western Peninsular Malaysia.
Best Way to Experience It
- Friday's practice and Sprint qualifying are the sessions for trying different seat zones before the race days.
- K1 Grandstand faces the first corner, where the Saturday Sprint start and the three Sunday race starts all pile in (2026 seat zones, 2027 zones not yet announced).
- F Grandstand is up close at Turns 7 and 8, a different part of the lap from the start zone.
- For buyers without a MyKad, F Grandstand was the lowest priced seat zone in 2026.

Sepang sells its seat zones on its own ticketing site and through authorised agents, and seat zones open to all buyers started at RM143.75 (about US$35) in 2026. MotoGP lists 2027 hospitality (MotoGP VIP Village and Apex packages) for Saturday and Sunday.
- Bringing things in: in 2025 no outside food or drink was allowed apart from one water bottle of up to 600 ml, and the circuit was a no drone zone. 2027 conditions of entry are not yet published.
