2027 MotoGP Liqui Moly Motorcycle Grand Prix of Germany

Sachsenring · Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany9–11 Jul 20273 days

About This Event

MotoGP's only German round is the biggest single sporting event in Germany, and in 2027 it falls in the Sachsenring's 100th year. The 3.67 km track has ten left handers and three rights, with a big standing area on the inside of the circuit and grandstands at the Omega, the kart hall curve and the Sachsenkurve.

What to Expect

  • MotoGP runs a Sprint on Saturday and the Grand Prix on Sunday, with Moto2 and Moto3 on the same weekend. New technical rules arrive in 2027 and bring a lot of rider changes.
  • The programme runs over five days, from Wednesday afternoon to Sunday evening, with a charity run, a Family Day and a rider presentation around the three on track days. Days and times for 2027 are not yet announced by the organiser.
  • For the centenary the T1 and T6 grandstands are being expanded by more than 1,500 seats, and a "100 Years of the Sachsenring" merchandise collection is on sale.
  • Nights belong to the Ankerberg Festival campground, with a Main Stage and a Red Bull Festival Stage running acts from 7pm.
  • July in Chemnitz averages a high of 23.3°C and a low of 13.4°C, with some rain on about 15 days of the month (1991 to 2020 averages).

Best Way to Experience It

  • The Friday for All ticket opens every grandstand on Friday, so the first day can be spent trying T1, T2, T13 and the Omega stands before settling on a spot for the Sprint and the Grand Prix.
  • The three day standing ticket is €99 (2027) and covers the large standing area on the inside of the track and the Sachsenkurve area, and standing fans can move around between the grandstands to find their own spot.
  • T1 is the main grandstand, on the start finish straight with the pit lane and the podium in view. T2 is the largest, looking at turn 1 and the turn 10 to 11 transition. T13 at the Sachsenkurve has unnumbered seats opposite the circuit's largest video wall. T3, T3/1 and T4 sit at the exit of the Omega.
  • The pit walk and paddock tour are on the 2027 programme as extras. MotoGP Premier packages bundle a three day grandstand ticket with a guided paddock tour (Rider) or a guided track tour (Trophy).

Good to Know

  • Driving: From the west the organiser routes traffic off the A4 at Wüstenbrand, and from the south, north and northeast off the A72 at Stollberg-Nord, then along the B180. In 2026 car park P12 on the B180 was free, motorhomes were not allowed at P12, and motorcycles parked at P3, Autohaus Schmidt, Am Sachsenring 1, Bernsdorf, with tickets sold on site only. 2027 parking is not yet announced by the organiser.
  • Public transport: Hohenstein-Ernstthal station is the rail stop the circuit names, and the organiser puts the main entrance on Goldbachstraße about a 15 minute walk from the station.
  • Rideshare and taxis: Rideshare and taxi drop off for 2027 is not yet announced by the organiser.
  • Best value route: The train to Hohenstein-Ernstthal and the walk in, which needs no parking and keeps you off the roads during the Sunday closures.
  • Getting home: In 2026 police closed roads extensively from Sunday midday to Sunday evening, with heavy congestion around Hohenstein-Ernstthal (in 2025 the closures ran 12:00 to 18:00).
  • Tickets: From €50 (2027), online through ADAC at adac.de/motogp and the MotoGP ticket store, or at the ticket offices on Goldbachstraße. 2027 tickets come in anniversary designs and a plastic card format.
  • Bringing things in: Up to 1.5 litres of non alcoholic drinks per person in PET bottles (2026 rule). Animals are not allowed in the event area.
  • Camping: The Ankerberg Festival campground is taking 2027 bookings for tent pitches and caravan and motorhome pitches with power at ankerberg-festival.de. Each booking carries a €10 rubbish deposit, refunded when a full rubbish bag comes back on departure day. The camper village behind T13 sold out in 2026.
