2027 Formula 1 Moët & Chandon Australian Grand Prix

Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit · Melbourne, Australia1–4 Apr 20274 days

About This Event

The Australian Grand Prix turns the park roads around Albert Park Lake in Melbourne into a Formula 1 circuit, and in 2027 it runs its first ever Sprint. The 5.278 km track is temporary, bumpy and often slippery at the start of the weekend, yet still one of the faster laps of the season.

What to Expect

  • The event runs Thursday 1 April to Sunday 4 April. Formula 1 runs on the Sprint format: Friday 2 April has the only practice session and Sprint Qualifying, Saturday 3 April has the Sprint and then Grand Prix qualifying, and Sunday 4 April is the Grand Prix. Session times are still to be confirmed by Formula 1.
  • Melbourne is round 3 of 24, later than usual and after Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
  • Formula 2 and Formula 3 race in Melbourne after their Bahrain and Jeddah openers, and Supercars are contracted to race at the Grand Prix through 2029.
  • The lap runs mainly on Aughtie Drive and Lakeside Drive, with a detour through the Lakeside Stadium car park.
  • April in Melbourne averages a daily high of 21°C and a low of 11.6°C.

Best Way to Experience It

  • A four day pass covers Thursday to Sunday on one ticket, and the Park Pass reaches the trackside general admission spots, the grassy viewing mounds included.
  • The Webber Grandstand sits inside Turn 11 at the end of the longest straight, with a big screen nearby.

Good to Know

  • Driving: The circuit is on the roads around Albert Park Lake, south of Melbourne's city centre; 2027 parking and road closures are not yet announced by the organiser.
  • Public transport: Anzac Station, on Melbourne's Metro Tunnel line, is a short walk from the circuit.
  • Rideshare and taxis: Uber operates in Melbourne, for rides and for taxis booked in the app.
  • Best value route: The train to Anzac Station ends with a short walk to the circuit, with no parking to find and no transfer.
  • Tickets: A four day Park Pass costs AU$425 (about US$296). Tickets are sold through the official Grand Prix site; the public sale opened on 6 October 2026, after presales for Albert Park Circuit Club members from 1 October and American Express card members from 2 October.
  • Seating and shade: Undercover seats are limited to the Fangio, Piastri, Prost, Ricciardo, Schumacher and Senna grandstands, and the organiser notes that even these do not give full weather protection.

Is This Event Right For You?

  • Do I need a ticket to watch? Yes. The cheapest way in is a Park Pass, which is general admission with no reserved seat; a grandstand ticket adds a reserved seat.
  • Do I need a membership to buy a ticket? No for the Park Pass and most grandstands, where the Albert Park Circuit Club membership is an optional add on for early access and priority renewal. The exception is the Brabham Grandstand, sold only to Premium members.
  • Only have one day? Saturday has a Formula 1 race, the Sprint, plus Grand Prix qualifying, so a single Saturday ticket still includes a Formula 1 race without Sunday's crowd for the Grand Prix.
  • Suitable for kids? Junior tickets cover children aged 3 to 14 years, and children aged 2 years and under do not need a ticket.
