2026 Supercheap Auto Americarna

Americarna is a week-long celebration of American cars and car culture across New Plymouth, with core street events on Devon Street East in the CBD. The programme includes the Friday Night Cruise and the Saturday Americarnival in the CBD alongside other events across the festival week.

Check the official Americarna programme for maps, routes and the full schedule; some CBD activities operate under temporary road closures on 27–28 February 2026.

Americarna concentrates vintage and custom American cars, family-friendly carnival activities and evening cruise culture in New Plymouth's CBD, anchored on Devon Street East.

What makes it worth the trip:

• Street-level access to hundreds of show cars and active cruising on Friday night in the CBD.
• Saturday Americarnival offers early-morning displays and community stalls in Devon Street East.
• Official programme includes maps and scheduled events so you can plan which displays, parades and local venues to visit.

Best way to experience it:

Arrive early on Saturday for the Americarnival to secure street-side viewing and parking nearby, use the official programme to locate themed displays, and plan to catch the Friday Night Cruise (evening) and Saturday shows in the CBD.

Good to know:

• Some events on Devon Street East occur during temporary road closures (official council notice lists closure times for the Friday Cruise and Saturday Americarnival).
• The Americarna official programme PDF on the event site is the authoritative source for maps, routes and event times.

• Great if you want up-close access to vintage and custom American cars in a city-street setting.
• Great if you enjoy family-friendly daytime festivals with market stalls and live displays.
• Great if you like planning around an official programme to catch parades and timed events.
• Maybe skip if you prefer quiet, ticketed motorsport venues with assigned seating.
