Round 12 falls within the five-race Copa de Oro playoff phase — a NASCAR-style knockout format determining the season champion. Argentina's most popular motorsport category, with silhouette stock cars from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge and Toyota competing in a multi-heat format: three five-lap sprint races followed by a longer final.
